Sledding

Monday is library day at our house. The kids always enjoy going to the library but today it was extra special. Today... it snowed. AND our library just happens to sit on a nice hill. A hill that in the green of summer looked perfect for sledding.
So after dinner the kids got ready as quickly as I have ever seen my kids get ready. We got the brand new sled out of the basement. (It's been waiting a whole year for snow to come. We didn't have enough last year for a good sled.) (thats my story and I'm sticking to it)

It was foggy at the library. Wicked foggy. I have a dozen pictures of fog. There should have been a kiddo#1 in there somewhere... but the fog was all that could be seen.

So here we go, 1st time sledding in 2009. :)

This is #2, he didn't actually go sledding. I tried to take him down the hill with me but he ran away. That was probably the smartest thing he could have done.

Roger and #1 went down a few times. The first time #1 (I don't like calling him #1,I really need to come up with a great blog name for the kids) went down by himself. (Besides this, he had only been sledding once before... when he was about 2.) He screamed with a mixture of fear and excitement. I could just barely see him at the bottom of the hill. I yelled down "Are you ok? Was it fun?" He yelled back "Woo-hoo! I want to do that AGAIN!"

Sledding was a hit.
Well, it was a hit for #1 anyway. Not so much for #3. She wanted to go back inside the library and play with the Lego's. She isn't feeling the greatest though. She's still trying to get over a cold. So, yes, the wonderful parents that we are, we brought her sledding.

I think this is #1 getting ready to go down the first time. He didn't know what to expect. That hill was FAST!

And here is where a picture would be if Roger had the camera. But praise the Lord, he did not.

I went sledding. Me. The hater of snow. (Ok, hate is a strong word. Snow is beautiful. I enjoyed watching is fall to the ground today.) I don't enjoy being out in it. I don't like falling. I don't generally enjoy "sports" where wheels and or moving quickly are involved. Sledding? Falls into the moving quickly category.
I went down by myself because #2 didn't want to go with me. #1 said "No it's ok Mommy, you can go" Those boys are smart.
I gave myself a push and began to scream. I swear I was going 90. I haven't gone sledding since I was in elementary school. I couldn't remember how to steer a sled! There was a tree at the bottom of the hill. Forget the bottom, I didn't want to make it that far, I wanted OFF! So I put my foot out. I was going for 2 feet out but one got caught on the rope handle. The whole thing flipped over and I went rolling down the hill. #1 was at the top and I think he asked Roger if I was ok. Roger could barely answer through his laughter. I think he said something like "Yeah she's fine. Look she's moving" :) I was laughing so hard I couldn't see. Between the fog and the tears from laughing, it was a hard walk back up the hill.
I hung out with #3 for a few minutes while Roger and #1 went down a couple more times and then we were outta there. I hope the snow all melts and we can pack the sled away till 2010. That was enough fast moving fun for me.

I totally agree with the above. Your writing is fabulous! I can totally hear your voice telling me the story as I am reading. How much fun you guys had. We we're sledding this morning down our driveway. I even went for a coupel rides. Aliana thought that was hilarious.
By the way, congrats. I have been having trouble with blogger, and I posted comments like 3 times the other week, and it never went through. I am so happy for you, and maybe a little envious!
Have an idea for blogger names...Larry, Moe, and Curly :P
