Still here

Number of days on the market ~ 45
Number of days from signed contract to closing ~ 60 and counting

A long story that I'd rather not document because I would rather forget it ever happened... will be shortened to a bearable read for y'all here.

Seriously, this is the short version.

We had 2 offers on our house back in late July/early August.  We countered the first offer and that fell through.  Then we had the offer that we eventually accepted (after a little back and forth over numbers).  It was a good offer and we were all happy with it.  However, Roger and I were both uneasy about it from the get go.  I'm not sure why... but we were just hesitant about the whole thing since the beginning.  It's proven to be a pain and we had reason to be leery of it all.

Our original closing date was supposed to be Sept 8th with a "worst case scenario" date of the 15th.  September 15th came and went, as did the 26th which became our new "worst case scenario" date.  We are now in October and we still don't have a closing date, though we are getting closer.

The buyers wound up having to get a new lender... as their old one is responsible for 85% of the junk that went wrong thus far.  (Their realtor is responsible for the rest.)  Our buyers are purchasing with a USDA loan, which goes through the government... and TX is  s. l. o. w. right now. "Worst case scenario" would have us closing on the 27th of October.

Our house has been packed and ready to go since Sept 15th. We will have to unpack some things to make living here another few weeks more enjoyable bearable.

The kids have been doing some light school for the past 2 weeks.  I had purchased them each a workbook that has the major subjects in them and they were doing that daily so they don't completely forget how to think.  I had to reteach subtraction with borrowing to more than one child.  It was kinda pitiful.

Anyway...

Roger is off of work now.  He had his last day a week ago.  So we'll treat the next few weeks like a vacation stay-cation.  Only we have nothing fun planned, meals will be prepared at home instead of going out to eat, and the kids will still have school.  Totally fun!

And that's that.  We're still here.  Waiting.
