We left the last housing update with the house back on the market and the buyers switching to a local lender. They did just that. Then they drug their feet, not wanting to put a penny down even though they were being denied the loan that they wanted (allowing them 0% down). When I found out that the (new) hold up was our buyers... well, it wasn't pretty. I emailed my Realtor and said that they go FHA (and therefore have to put 3.5% down) or they go find another house. That day we were given a new closing date of Oct 31st and our buyers switched to an FHA loan. Now, there was SOME rejoicing in that, but only a little. FHA could have closed us in 10 days. ten. But the buyers needed time to put money together (for the 3.5%).
I'm heartless.
I don't care that they need to come up with that money. Newsflash, we had to come up with money too. Money that was needed to pay bills because our house was supposed to close almost 2 whole months ago. Money that, had they not been so insistent about a 0 down loan, when they had the majority of the 3.5% sitting in their bank (I know this because their lender told me so. Yes he did.), would not have needed to be spent.
(That was a confusing sentence. I know. Let's move on.)
So. Happy to have them going FHA. Happy for a closing date. (Oct 31st) Not happy about the situation cause I'm a walking bad attitude.
Wednesday, as in yesterday, Roger called me from work (he went back to work. Yay for nice boss man) around 3:00. "So... how do you feel about closing tomorrow?"
Um. WHAT?
blah blah blah, long story short (ha!), apparently this was an option all along but my Realtor didn't want to get our hopes up.
My excitement lasted but a minute because we had planned everything for the 31st. Hotels. Moving trucks. Ok, so that's all we had planned but they are expensive plans.
And I'm cranky.
So. Today we went to sign papers.
Oh! But the fun doesn't end there!! No... THAT would be too easy.
We walked in to sign papers and no one there was smiling. Not all of the papers that needed to be signed were finished. Something that should have been done this morning, wasn't. We were waiting for the last of the paperwork to go through about 3 different people's hands.
What was supposed to be our celebration dinner turned into a "stuff your face with Mexican food whilst you grumble about everything except the salsa and guac" dinner.
Our waitress loved us.
We left a good tip.
To leave on a happy-ish note...
They did end up getting the paperwork in tonight. So after we finished dinner we signed papers to close. Keturah tripped over a phone cord and knocked a small table thingie down on top of her.
That was fun. (she's fine.)
Oh, and we don't actually have the check from the sale of our house. You know, like, the most important part... the money.
Apparently that's in California somewhere. It should be here tomorrow by noon. "worst case scenario it will be here by 5:00"
Bwahahahahaha!
Worst case scenario. Those are now bad words and they shall not be spoken in my house anymore.
