The Neighbor's Chickens

One nice day we went outside to play.  A quick look into our neighbors yard led us to believe that we were living right next door to old MacDonald.  We never saw a single chicken in his yard before... but this day we saw at least 3 dozen.  Yes, that is right, we counted at least 36 chickens in the yard!
I've never really been around chickens before.  The sound they make is kinda creepy.  I'm used to it now and don't find it so creepy anymore... but it is a little weird.
Over the past few weeks the number of chickens seen wandering the yard has dwindled.  The neighbor also has 2 dogs (a rotty and a great dane). The dogs enjoy chasing the chickens... and catching them. ahem.
Keturah LOVES to watch the chickens.  When she woke up this morning the very first thing she wanted to do was look out the window to see the chickens.  Granted, the one she wanted to see now lives on our side of the fence.

Oh... no, we didn't buy chickens.

One of theirs is an escape artist.

The dogs chase it and it flys into one of our trees.  It's been seen wandering in our backyard, our side yard, and even up by our front door.  Lately though it seems to really enjoy the shade of our holly trees (too big to call a bush) on the side of the house.  The neighbors have tried to retrieve it but the dogs just chase it back up the tree.

::shrug:: We have plenty of bugs for it to eat.

Besides, in this neighborhood, whats a stray chicken?  I mean, we have stray dogs, cats, and goats!  Of course we need a chicken too!   The kids are wondering what will come next.  They are hoping for a pony.
