My mom was here visiting this past week. It was great that she was able to see the kids again and love on the baby for awhile. She did more than that while she was here though... as I sort through pictures I'll do a post on my mothers accomplishments. Today though I'm just talking about the baby. :)
So, we get a lot of questions about Adaiahs name. I'd like to take a minute and tell you how we chose her name.
As we did with all of our children, we picked her name because of its meaning. While we don't believe that someone with the name of Calvin will grow up as a little bald man, or that little Ashlee started as a tree, we do believe that there is power in a name. That said, Adaiah (uh-day-uh) means The witness of the Lord or God's Jewel (depending which baby book you look at) and Eden means Delight. Dictionary.com defines witness as: to see, hear, or know by personal presence and perception. We pray that Adaiah will grow to know the Lord. To know His presence. To hear His voice. We pray that she will shine like a jewel, that all will know she is a child of God. And who wouldn't delight in that? :)
We chose to spell it Adaiah instead of Adaya because... well.. all of our kids names end in the letter "h". It wasn't intentional until now. Their middle names also either start with an "A" or an "E", again only made intentional now. :) (And if we are blessed with a #5, and #5 is another girl, that pattern might be broken because it was HARD to find a name that ended in h AND had a meaning that we loved!) :)
Now I'm off to go snuggle with my hubbie and my baby girl (and maybe fall asleep watching a movie) :)

I'm so glad she's an easy baby, and so glad that your mom came out to visit!
I never noticed about your kids' names ending in "h." That's neat. I've mentioned it before, but I'll say it again. I really, really like your choice of a name for Adaiah. She's a sweetheart - a beautiful sweetheart with a beautiful name.
Yup, I'm a dork... I was sitting here thinking you were nuts! Child #1 doesn't end in an h! But then I spelled it out... Goofy f sounds.
She's soo precious, Val!! love the meaning...you know me, I'm all about meanings too! :)
